NFTs Fall, ETH Rises: Readyverse Unveils Metaverse Game Trailer

Readyverse Studios, a company founded by Ernest Cline and Dan Farah, has released a trailer for their new metaverse game project. The game, called “Open Futurverse Studios,” is a third-person battle royale game created in collaboration with Walker Labs. The trailer showcases various entertainment systems and features the iconic time machine from the movie “Back to the Future,” hinting at the inclusion of other intellectual properties. The game’s website promises a high-quality metaverse gaming experience with diverse genres and environments.

Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, recently shared his predictions for the future of the internet. He believes that virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) will have a transformative impact. Berners-Lee envisions an AI assistant that people can trust, comparing it to a doctor in terms of its reliability and integration into everyday life. He also suggests that spatial computing, a technology associated with VR, could replace traditional input devices like the mouse, keyboard, and touchscreen.

A joint study conducted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the country’s Copyright Office revealed that intellectual property infringement is prevalent in the world of nonfungible tokens (NFTs). The study found that piracy and copyright violations are common on NFT marketplaces. The report concluded that existing copyright laws are sufficient to address these issues, and no new legislation is necessary. The study emphasized that NFT-related infringements should be treated similarly to other unauthorized reproductions.

Blockchain music label Chooky Records and virtual community sandbox TCG World have partnered to bring renowned artists like Busta Rhymes, O.T., and Elesia Iimura into the metaverse. The collaboration aims to provide artists with more freedom and flexibility by moving away from traditional one-off contracts. Chooky Records combines digital music with NFTs, allowing for a tokenized entertainment experience within the metaverse. The initial release will feature an animated video showcasing the artists in the TCG World metaverse.

In other news, the floor prices of NFTs experienced a decline on March 12, despite the price of Ether (ETH) rising above $4,000 for the first time since 2021. Collections like Bored Ape and Mutant Ape Yacht Club saw a decrease of 13%, while Azuki and DeGods dropped by nearly 9%. This fluctuation in NFT prices coincides with the upward trend in ETH’s value.
