Sophon ZKSync raises $60M in Node Sale

Sophon, an entertainment-focused Hyperchain called zkSync, has raised $60 million in Wrapped Ether (wETH) through its node sale. This funding will be used to launch Sophon, an ecosystem centered around artificial intelligence (AI) and gaming. The project is built using Zero Knowledge (ZK) technology and is set to launch in the third quarter of 2024. The $60 million node sale is considered significant for a new project like Sophon. One of the reasons for its success is the demand for reliable infrastructure for entertainment use cases like gaming and AI.

The co-founder of Sophon, Seb, highlighted that gaming and AI require scalable and cost-effective infrastructure. Choosing ZK technology allows for a larger TPS (transactions per second) capacity compared to other setups, and the fees are more stable within the zkSync codebase. This stability in fees is crucial for industries that involve frequent microtransactions like gaming and AI.

Both gaming and AI rely heavily on robust infrastructure to handle user demand and the large number of transactions associated with these industries. Running a zkEVM (Zero Knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine) in Validium mode provides low fees and scalable infrastructure that can withstand network surges.

The node sale offered 200,000 nodes for purchase and was in addition to Sophon’s recent $10 million funding round. The goal of the node sale was not only to raise capital but also to create a community of node holders. These holders can expect airdrops and other rewards in the future. Airdrops are a popular way to attract new users to decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols by issuing tokens to early adopters who have interacted with the protocol.

Through future incentives like airdrops, Sophon aims to build a strong community of builders and enthusiasts. This community can contribute to the network effects of projects built on the protocol, making Sophon an attractive choice for gaming and AI projects. By creating a supportive and valuable community, Sophon hopes to establish itself as a leading option in the industry.

  1. The hype around blockchain and AI is getting out of control. This project seems unnecessary.

  2. I’m not convinced that Sophon will be able to handle the demands of the gaming and AI industries.

  3. million is a huge sum of money for a new project. Is it really worth that much?

  4. This seems like another overhyped blockchain project with no real substance.

  5. I don’t trust the stability of fees in the zkSync codebase. How can they guarantee it?

  6. Sophon’s vision of building a supportive and valuable community is commendable. By doing so, they are positioning themselves as a leading option in the industry. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Sophon!

  7. The node sale and recent funding round show that Sophon is off to a strong start. Creating a community of node holders is smart, and I’m excited about the future airdrops and rewards they’ll be offering. This will attract new users and add to the network effects of projects built on the protocol.

  8. I totally agree that robust infrastructure is crucial for both gaming and AI. 🙌 Running a zkEVM in Validium mode provides low fees and scalability, which is exactly what these industries need to handle user demand and a large number of transactions. ⚡️

  9. Seb, the co-founder of Sophon, made a brilliant decision by choosing ZK technology. With its larger TPS capacity and stable fees, it’s the perfect fit for industries that involve frequent microtransactions like gaming and AI.

  10. Airdrops are just a way to artificially inflate token prices. Not interested.

  11. I’m tired of hearing about new blockchain projects that promise the world but rarely deliver.

  12. Why do we need another blockchain project in the gaming and AI space? There are already plenty of options.
