OKX Launches WIF and MEW Spot Trading
Cryptocurrency exchange OKX is taking advantage of the growing popularity of memecoins by introducing major Solana-based memecoins like Dogwifhat (WIF) and Cat in a Dog’s World (MEW) to its platform. OKX has confirmed that spot trading for WIF and MEW has begun, allowing users to deposit these tokens and trade them against the stablecoin Tether (USDT). The announcement states that WIF spot trading opened one hour after MEW spot trading, with withdrawals becoming available at a later time. WIF and MEW are experiencing significant growth in trading volume and are both based on the Solana blockchain, which has outperformed other networks due to the popularity of memecoins. Dogwifhat was launched in November 2023 and has become one of the top 50 coins by market capitalization, reaching nearly $50 billion in the first quarter of 2024. Currently, WIF is the 42nd largest cryptocurrency and the third largest memecoin, after Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). MEW, Was introduced just a few weeks ago and aims to disrupt the dominance of dog-themed memecoins. At present, OKX offers approximately 20 memecoins, including the newly added WIF and MEW.
