Crypto Influencers and Celeb X Accounts Hacked in Wave of Attacks
3 min readOver the recent weekend, several prominent figures and celebrities had their X accounts compromised to promote various cryptocurrencies, from Luna2 and ORDI to memecoins inspired by celebrities. One of the more notable victims was Gigantic-Cassocked-Rebirth, or GCR, a well-regarded cryptocurrency investor known for making profits through contrarian trades. GCR confirmed that their X account had been hacked. On May 26, the compromised account posted about ORDI and Luna2.0, which briefly sent the two tokens up by 6% and 274%, respectively. Many in the community remarked that the hacker could have taken advantage of the situation by promoting a microcap coin, which could have resulted in more substantial gains, but chose to settle with these two tokens instead.
Crypto analyst Miles Deutscher noted, “GCR hacker fumbled the bag hard,” suggesting that the hacker missed an opportunity by not selecting a smaller, more volatile coin that could have experienced a significant price surge. ORDI, already holding a substantial market cap of $856 million, has less potential for massive short-term gains compared to smaller cap coins. The incident with GCR, Appears to be just one component of a more extensive series of attacks targeting celebrity X accounts.
Udi Wertheimer, a Bitcoin developer and commentator on Ordinals, highlighted that GCR had previously indicated a broader operation targeting high-profile X accounts. He recommended caution, especially during long weekends when platform engineers are less likely to be available to address security breaches promptly. Wertheimer’s warning comes as more niche celebrities are showing up with new memecoins at an alarming rate.
In a parallel event, the X account of American rapper Rich The Kid, whose real name is Dimitri Leslie Roger, posted a link to a newly launched token named “RICH” on the Solana memecoin creator tool pump.fun. This new token achieved a market cap of $90,000 within the first two hours of its release, according to DEX Screener data. There has yet to be any confirmation on whether Rich The Kid’s account was hacked, though the promotional post has since been removed.
Around the same time, a memecoin called “JENNER” was being promoted through the X account of American media personality Caitlyn Jenner. This coin quickly amassed a market cap of $4.7 million following its launch just four hours earlier, data from DEX Screener showed. Unlike other cases, Jenner’s posts included videos of her endorsing the crypto token, making the promotion seem more legitimate.
In one of the videos, Jenner addressed her 3.3 million X followers, affirming the legitimacy of the JENNER token and encouraging her audience to invest promptly. The video stated, “Yes, this crypto on my account is real. If you wanna get in on this, get in in a hurry, OK, get in right now.” Despite the seemingly convincing endorsement, many industry insiders suspect that Jenner’s account too might have been hacked.
It was noted that the cryptocurrency wallet Jenner promoted in her videos was identical to the one shared by adult content creator Kazumi. Kazumi’s account had been hacked a few days earlier on May 20 to promote another coin named “ZUMI.” This coincidence further fuels suspicions that a coordinated effort might be underway targeting various celebrity X accounts to promote multiple memecoins.
The pattern of these attacks reflects a concerning trend where hackers exploit influential social media accounts to create hype around new and often questionable cryptocurrency projects. The increased activity during times when technical support is minimal adds another layer of complexity, making it difficult for timely interventions to stop these hacks.
As the cryptocurrency community continues to deal with these breaches, it underscores the importance of enhanced security measures and increased vigilance among social media influencers. The collective responsibility to safeguard these platforms needs to be acknowledged to prevent such incidents from becoming more frequent and damaging.
Why don’t these platforms have better security?? This would have been preventable. 😩🔒
Lets hope this trend doesn’t continue. Influencers need to bolster their online defenses.
Couldn’t have imagined so many celebs got targeted! Security breaches during weekends are an ongoing issue. 🌐🚨
The hacker’s choice in coins was curious. Could’ve been a much bigger payout with a different strategy.
These hacks are ruining the credibility of the crypto community. How are we supposed to trust anyone? 😒🚫
These incidents underscore the need for better cybersecurity awareness. Stay safe, crypto community!
Jenner’s video seemed legit, which goes to show how sophisticated these hacks are getting.
Rich The Kid and Caitlyn Jenner getting involved makes this even crazier!
So GCR got hacked and pumped two random coins? Talk about a missed opportunity. The hacker clearly doesn’t know the market. 🤦♂️📉
GCR is such a respected figure; it’s disheartening to see their account get hacked. Stay strong, GCR!
The hacker really didn’t optimize their move. They could have made way more with a smaller cap coin.
Never a dull moment in the world of crypto! Hope everyone affected recovers quickly.
Jenner’s endorsement video seemed so real! Scary stuff, always double-check.

What a nightmare for the crypto world. Hackers everywhere and nobody doing anything to stop it. Enough already! 🙅♀️🚫
Seeing GCR so calm about it all is inspiring. Shows true resilience in the face of adversity.
Crypto analysts are right – these hackers dont even know how to capitalize properly. Still dangerous though.
Rich The Kid’s account too? This is becoming absurd. These hackers are just relentless.
Really Jenner? This just damages trust, even if she might have been hacked. No one can trust these promotions anymore. 🚫🔒
Absolutely wild how quickly JENNER token’s market cap grew. Crypto space is always full of surprises.
The fact that GCR’s account was hacked and only promoted ORDI and Luna2.0 is just sad. Could have been worse, but still, really disappointing.
This series of attacks highlights how important cybersecurity is, especially for public figures.
Feels like a lesson for all influencers to tighten their account security. We can’t let this trend continue.
This situation is just out of hand. It’s like every other day there’s a new celeb promoting some scam coin. Where are the real projects? 💣🚨
The whole memecoin trend is toxic. Now it’s just being used as another tool for scammers. Disappointing and dangerous.
The similarities between Kazumi and Jenner’s situations are concerning. Hopefully, we get to the bottom of this.
Honestly, this is just reckless . These celebrities need to take their account security more seriously it’s causing way too much damage to the crypto community.

An adult content creator’s wallet being used for these schemes… seems like a major coordinated effort. Extremely concerning. 😬🚩
Miles Deutscher nailed it. The hacker could’ve done much more with a microcap coin. Smart analysis.
